Zack and Jake had their first visit to the dentist and it went GREAT! Much better than I'd expected it to go since teeth brushing with them can be a physical struggle with lots of fussing. We took them in because they had developed dark staining on their teeth which was freaking me out! I tried to look online to see what it could be....food stains....tartar....decay....fluoride stains but what I was seeing on their teeth wasn't like the pictures I was seeing online. I was so worried and confused because we brush twice a day, they don't drink juice, have never been to bed with a bottle, and don't eat too much sugary stuff. I was stumped and stressed! Luckily my sister Diana referred me to the pediatric dentist that my niece Karlee went to and we made an appointment. We took them in fully expecting major meltdowns but they were soooo good! No tears! The best part is the dentist said it wasn't anything to be worried about and he was able to scrub it off quickly with his tools and some pumice toothpaste. PHEW! The dentist explained that when baby teeth erupt through the skin they have a coating on them that is supposed to wear off over time through biting and chewing on foods but theirs hadn't worn off and had been stained. PHEW!! Now they are both back to having pearly whites! No more pirate teeth! We were in and out of there in like 40 minutes! :)
Jake in the chair getting his picture taken.
Dr. Hodges checking out Jake's pirate teeth. ...eeeew!
Showing Jake how the "toothbrush" works....but on his fingernails.
Buh-bye pirate teeth!!
Zack's turn! He was a little more apprehensive but still did GREAT! I think both Brian and I were more worried about Zack because he tends to be more fussy during brushing times. I think these boys enjoy proving us wrong! ;)
See Zack! It doesn't hurt! It tickles!
Buh Bye stains! :)
And here is video of Zack getting his teeth cleaned. We somehow lost Jake's video. :( Sorry Jake!

yeah for the boys going to the dentist. I guess I am obsessed with the Dentist too. I took both Bug and Ladybug to the DENTIST when they were 6 months old. I think the dentist was thinking I was crazy. Well maybe not him but the other people in the waiting room with their own kids. "What you are bringing your 6 month old to the dentist??? I am crazy like that though. I just didn't want either of them to be fearful of going when they get older and the cleanings start. Bug infact did SUPER GREAT this last time...and it was a full cleaning. Not sure when the X-rays start. He has so many spaces between his baby teeth that the dentist can pretty much see and feel if there is a cavity.
But way to go for the boys!
Awesome! You give me hope for my own two! I am expecting meltdowns and tears when we finally go. Do you think it is worth going so soon if there don't seem to be any issues?
